St. Patty's Day Parade ON UES

Last Saturday’s festivities in New York gave the Upper East Side a very different look and feel as New Yorkers and tourists alike congregated to partake in the 251st annual St Patrick’s Day Parade. All nationalities gathered in green to watch this event and it was a spectacle. The parade travelled up 5th Avenue from 44th Street to 86th Street, although this event is to recognize the brave men and women who have served in America’s Armed Forces, it is also a time for debauchery and mayhem as not only were the streets flooded, but so were their local watering holed. However, this is just one of many holidays that are designed for overindulgence; as we have seen on New Years, Fourth of July and Halloween (just to name a few). This year the city had a very different feel as the weather turned freakishly warm and sound of bag pipes at 10 am filled your eardrums. Its weekends like this that make me love this city so much.
