On the Streets

Hey everybody,

Just checking in here with some new updates from the streets of the Upper East Side. As you may have noticed, New York has one of the highest restaurant turnovers in the world. So in order to keep you as updated as possible, this week we take a look at a couple restaurants on the UES- one which is "coming soon" and one which will be closed temporarily. Be sure to check Uppereast.com and The Informer for the latest on your favorite spots.

Shalizar

Shalizar is a new Persian restaurant on its way to Third Avenue. Currently under construction, the restaurant will replace Sushi Sennin, which has moved down to 33rd street between Park and Madison. The restaurant is located between 80th and 81st streets, joining a crowded block that also includes restaurants Taste, Miss Saigon, and Gobo. Shalizar, 1420 Third Avenue b/w 80th & 81st.

Hunter's American Bar and Grill

Hunter's American Bar and Grill, a well-known spot on Third Avenue, is temporarily shut down due to health concerns in the building. An Upper East Side institution, Hunter's regulars will have to find a new place to congregate for the forseeable future. We here at the Informer certainly hope Hunter's is back to serving drinks and good grub as soon as possible. Hunter's, 1387 Third Avenue b/w 78th & 79th.

Take a closer look at that block - everything is gone now - from Annie's to the coffee shop on the corner as well as all the apartments above it - looks like a new high rise building will be under construction soon...
